The Colorful Houses of Crested Butte
Crested Butte, CO is an old coal mining town turned ski resort town. Historic and new houses line the streets, and among all those houses you can find a few colorful gems that stand out of the crowd. These colorful houses are part of what makes Crested Butte so special. Our town is not full of cookie cutter homes but is an eclectic mix of old and new, Victorian details and straight lines, neutrals and bright colors. Below are a few of the colorful houses you can see during a stroll through the streets of Crested Butte.
This house can be found on Maroon Avenue. The bright turquoise trim stands out in contrast to the purple siding. Yellow window paint and a red door contribute to the colorful effect.
This house uses a bright purple/blue siding and adds more color using pink trim and white window frames. If you look closely you can see the banisters include all those colors as well.
A drive down Sopris Avenue will reveal this beautiful home. The owners use bold yellow trim and a red door to differentiate from the green siding. The white really pops out among all those colors.
Further along Sopris Avenue is this cheerful house. You have to love the peace sign in front that exudes the overall feeling and demeanor of Crested Butte!
Although mostly neutral colors this house makes a statement by painting stripes in the Victorian gable.
Rather than painting the porch columns one color, this house plays them up by adding three colors throughout the poles.
As you can see, Crested Butte houses are enjoyable to view for their colorful and aesthetic styles. Vintage charm is easy to find in this quaint little town. If you are lucky enough to visit, try to find the time to take a leisurely walk and enjoy all that town has to show.
