2016 Crested Butte Winter Events Calendar
Winter is upon us here in Crested Butte! Whether you are a visitor or local, you may be looking for a reason to get out of the house and enjoy some activities and entertainment. Luckily, Crested Butte is offering some great events this winter. View the list below to see some of the highlights of the season.
Center for the Arts Winter Programs Throughout the Winter: A variety of musical performances, film showings, art classes and culinary workshops will be happening all winter. Performances include George Winston, Andres Osborn, Zoso, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, The Wailers, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Tim O’Brien, The Brothers Comatose and more. Santa Ski and Crawl December 10: Come join in the fun! With its combination of skiing and costumes, The Santa Ski and Crawl is an unforgettable experience! The event has two main parts – The Santa Group Ski and The Santa Pub Crawl.
Rock on Ice December 18 – 23: The Rock on Ice team returns to Mt. CB for an ice carving festival. Be amazed as two of the world’s most renowned carvers create larger than life sized sculptures of animals, holiday characters and other iconic figures out of blocks of ice.
Torchlight Parade & Fireworks December 31: Enjoy a torchlight parade put on by Crested Butte’s finest ski and snowboard instructors. Watch as they wind their way down the mountain carrying orange flames to light up their path.
Mountain High Music Festival January 11 – 15: The Mountain High Music Festival will proudly present a diverse lineup of the world’s best performers along with the most buzzed about, up-and-coming talent for an eclectic mix of mile-high musical performances.
Borealis Fat Bike World Championships January 26 – 29: Crested Butte hosts the Borealis Fat Bike World Championships. Riders may expect team relay races around an alpine lake, a pub-crawl and obstacle course, food, bonfires, serious competition too.
Alley Loop Nordic Marathon February 4: You don’t want to miss Crested Butte’s largest costume party in addition to being the biggest Nordic event of the year. The Alley Loop’s course starts and ends downtown at Second and Elk Avenue.
Prater Cup February 23 – 26: Crested Butte’s marquee annual race will bring 200 of Colorado’s top 11 and 12 year old racers to Crested Butte. The Prater Cup is always a blast for competitors and fans alike.
Mardi Gras Parade Feburary 28: Whether its snowing or not, this true Crested Butte event is not to be missed. Elk Avenue in Downtown Crested Butte will be shut down for the evening on Fat Tuesday in celebration of Mardi Gras.
Crafted Tasting Event March 4: Are you a foodie? Visit Mt. Crested Butte in early March and enjoy spring skiing and CRAFTED, a tasting featuring Colorado’s best craft brews, spirits and local fare.
GORE-TEX Grand Traverse March 25: The Grand Traverse is an extraordinary 40-mile backcountry ski race between the towns of Crested Butte and Aspen, CO. It benefits Crested Butte Nordic and other non-profits. It starts at midnight from the Base Area.
CBMR Closing Day April 9: Today is the last day of 2016-2017 Ski Season. Enjoy the sun, some turns, and live music!
