Hunt Crested Butte

Gunnison County is one of the premier areas in Colorado to begin your next elk hunt. With large elk herds it is relatively easy to draw an elk tag in the area. Gunnison County is primarily made up of three GMU's (Game Management Units - .pdf map) - Units 54, 55 and 551 with many surrounding units that dip into the county. In 2010 the elk herds for units 54, 55 and 551 are above management limits giving elk hunters a chance at getting two licenses during the season for management purposes (Gunnison Basin Elk Hunting Regulations).

Special Note: Remember, the limited license draw application deadline is April 5, 2011.
